Case Study Report
-
A case study report is a descriptive study that documents an issue pertaining to the society. For this assignment, I saw the documentary, ''The Limits of Learning – Kids in Crisis''. This formed the basis of the case study.
-
This was a remixed case study where I analyzed the multiple issues learners faced on the virtual platform during the outbreak of COVID-19. I referred to various sources like blogs, newspaper articles and scholarly literature to analyze the problem and provide possible solutions to resolve it.

MY REFLECTIONS
-
According to Lessig (2008, p. 75), "When you mix symbolic things with something new, you create something new that didn’t exist before." This is exactly what I experienced when I finished my case study report. In most assignments, the case study reports that I have written are limited to the extent of analyzing the case and presenting my views on it. However, in this specific assignment, I had the opportunity to conduct my research beyond the course material. I analyzed a variety of sources ranging from blogs to newspaper articles and podcasts.
-
Throughout my research, I was trying to evaluate the current teaching and learning dynamic in the traditional in-person environments and as well as on the digital platform. The COVID-19 pandemic catapulted everyone to rush towards a digital learning medium. However, most instructors failed to effectively plan their modules and as a result, like the documentary mentioned, students faced issues while learning online.
-
In addition, I tried to think critically about the applications constructivism. I did try to explore online interactions and problem-based learning as an application of constructivism. However, in retrospect, I could've explored other areas specifically in terms of why students were facing issues in learning, for instance, being disinterested on digital platforms and how can constructivism help make learning more engaging and interactive for such learners. Nevertheless, I will keep this in mind when I am designing my modules in future.
